Your passport is your license to travel. It enables you to enter other countries and return to the U.S. Obtaining a passport is a straightforward process, but there are a few things you need to get a passport.
Who needs a passport? All U.S. citizens, even infants, need a passport to travel outside the country by air. Children under age 16 need the consent of both parents, and they must apply for a passport in person with their parents to have the application co-signed.
The American Citizen Services Section wants to remind all U.S. citizens not to travel outside the United States without a valid U.S. passport. While dual citizens may be able to travel abroad with alternative documentation, all U.S. citizens are required to present a U.S. passport to re-enter the United States.
